About the photographer:
Richard E. Aaron (23 April 1949 – 8 December 2016) was a music photographer. During a career spanning more than three decades, his photographic work was used in feature films, on television, for menus, videos, corporate public relations, the promotion of shows, and album covers.
During his career, Aaron photographed about 4,000 musical artists. He notably photographed Prince, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, James Brown, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, the Sex Pistols, the Who, and members of the Beatles, among many other legends. Among his most remarkable shots is the cover of Peter Frampton's album Frampton Comes Alive!, released in 1976. Aaron was also the photographer for Paul McCartney for Time magazine's cover devoted to the album Paul McCartney/Wings Over America. He also photographed Mick Fleetwood and the album Fleetwood: The Visitor in Africa (RCA Records). He received an honorary master's degree from the Brooks Institute in 2008.
On December 8, 2016, Aaron passed away from a kidney disease at the age of 67. Jeff Jampol, a friend of Aaron, stated that he had been battling the disease for several years. Jampol has managed the careers of many artists, including The Doors, Janis Joplin, Rick James, Otis Redding, The Mamas & the Papas, Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, the Ramones and Muddy Waters, through his company Jam Inc.
