These inscriptions are meant to ridicule specific military and social vices:
Drunkenness of officers - Excessive behavior in taverns - Conflicts between military rank and civilian status.
The first one has an inscription that reads:
Officer
He enjoyed beer early in the day.
But once he has his intoxication, he storms toward
The landlady went off and behaved in a crude, coarse manner.
OFFICIAL
who enjoyed beer first thing in the morning,
But drunk, he lost her, so he charged.
against the innkeeper, behaving villainously.
The second one has an inscription that reads:
Lecturer, he was impotent from the outset, since there was nothing anyway.
To achieve it, he puts something into the Achilos.
as a nice bookmark.
PROFESSOR,
naturally powerless - since he couldn't accomplish anything anyway,
to deposit something in the Achilli family.
like a delicious bookmark.
