Description from the seller

Ancient Russian icon as a 'multi-panel icon' from the 19th century.

Hand-painted with egg tempera paints on a wood panel with a chalk ground. Typical method of icon creation in 18th and 19th century Tsarist Russia.

In the center is depicted the Resurrection of Christ. At the top left is the Theotokos of Kazan, at the top right St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. At the bottom left is Saint George the Dragon-Slayer on a white horse.

This is an Old Believers icon. The painting is rendered in quite a detailed manner. Perfectly harmonized color contrasts and successful shading. The painting contains very authentic crackling. The icon was created around 1850–1880.
Partial restorations are present.

The icon is in good condition with typical age-related signs of wear (see photos). The icon is slightly bowed. On the backside both crossbars are missing. The faces of God the Father and Christ are severely damaged (see photos).

The icon and the saints are labeled. The labels are clearly legible. All details are clearly visible in the photos. Photos are part of the description.

Dimensions: 30.5 x 25.5 x 2 cm
