AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

An exquisite early 19th century circular metal (cast, turned brass) box with the top decorated with a miniature watercolour, inserted and sealed below glass. The scene depicted in great detail is that of a small party on a river or lake boat trip or crossing. There are two boats. To the right, a man is standing and moving his boat along with a long wooden pole typical of punts and other shallow river boats. His boats carries a wooden wine barrel and a sack of goods. The girl to the left wears a typical bonnet of c. 1810-1830. The mens' hats are also of this period (French Empire). The box is further decorated by neoclassical beading and volutes of excellent quality.
