Highly sought-after copy of La Banlieue de Paris, written by Blaise Cendrars and published in 1949 by La Guilde du Livre in Lausanne. This edition contains the original sequence of black-and-white photographs by Robert Doisneau, documenting the Parisian outskirts in the postwar years. The book is printed in Garamond corps 12 on heliogravure paper, with a binding made from wood from the Papeteries de Landquart.
This copy is numbered (No. 1394) and belongs to the exclusive edition of 4,300 copies, distributed exclusively among members of the Guilde. The edition is volume 139 in the series and is regarded as an early photographic collaboration between literature and documentary photography.
The condition is good: light signs of aging, but complete and firmly bound. A valuable collectible for fans of French literature, Guilde editions, and vintage photo books.
