Globe - 1850-1900

An incredible collectible item: a very rare egg-shaped globe made of wood and applied paper, dating from the mid-19th century (estimated period 1850–1870).
This object, besides being a rare teaching instrument of the era, is a refined piece of antique craftsmanship. The cartography is in Italian and shows the political boundaries of the time (note the designation "North America" and
Southern
, and the division of Africa and Asia). The egg is openable, revealing its turned-wood core, a feature that often made it a container for small objects or simply a high-class desk ornament.

• Conditions: Very good for its age.
It displays a beautiful authentic patina and light signs of aging that attest to its originality. A portion of the paper is missing and there are two small cracks.
