Description from the seller
Armenian copper-engraved chandelier – Ottoman Empire, circa 1801
Turned copper chandelier with a baluster shaft and a wide circular base, intended for liturgical use or for religious household use.
It bears on the base an inscription engraved in Armenian, indicating a presumably votive dedication and a date corresponding to the very early 19th century (around 1801).
Armenian artisanal works from the Ottoman period, characteristic of the production of Christian communities in Anatolia and the Caucasus, where liturgical objects were often signed or dedicated.
Lovely antique patina, signs of wear and oxidation consistent with age.
No restoration visible.
Historically interesting object due to the presence of the Armenian inscription.
Photos are an integral part of the object's description and complement its presentation. They allow you to assess its condition and features. Please examine them carefully before making any commitment.
The item will be carefully packaged and shipped with a tracking number to ensure fast and secure delivery.
