Description from the seller
Antique salad cutlery in solid silver, Minerva 1 (950/1000) and noble wood – Original box – Late 19th century
Elegant antique salad cutlery set, consisting of a spoon and a fork, presented in its original box.
The handles are made of first-grade sterling silver (950/1000), certified by the prestigious Minerve 1 hallmark, and richly adorned with floral motifs and finely chased oval cartouches. The decoration is typical of French goldsmithing from the late 19th – early 20th century, offering a handsome presence and workmanship of high quality.
The functional parts are made of light noble wood, most likely boxwood, a material traditionally used for salad cutlery to prevent food oxidation and for its great durability. The wood is finely polished, with a lovely warm and uniform patina.
The set is kept in its original black-veneered wooden box, with the interior lined in red velvet, providing an elegant and authentic presentation.
