Rare ceremonial mask from West Mexico, Mezcala/Chontal, carved in hard stone with dimensions H 13.4 cm x W 12 cm x D 5 cm, dating to circa 500–100 BCE and in good condition with no cracks or repairs, provenance Galerie Gerdes, Prakolumbische Kunst, Munich, 1980, private collection of Dr. Ludwig Jansen (Germany), and acquired from Veilinghuis de Zwaan Amsterdam in 2023.
