Italian-made vintage damask jacquard bedspread in green, 220 by 220 cm, dating to 1950–1960, in very good condition with rare use and light signs of wear and age.
Description from the seller
Vintage/antique damask jacquard brocade bedspread. It is characterized by complex floral decorative motifs, woven directly into the weave and slightly raised.
It has a distinctive sheen, typical of silk or a satin/silk/rayon blend, which creates a shifting iridescent effect depending on the light.
The jacquard or brocade technique allows the motif to be woven directly into the fabric’s weave, creating a raised, high-quality effect.
The edge features an elaborate braided fringe.
The style and the intricate workmanship indicate that it could be an antique piece, perhaps dating from the early 1900s or even earlier.
Technique: This is a luxury weaving process that interlaces the decorative motif (flowers, leaves) into the fabric itself, creating a subtle raised effect. The alternation of glossy and matte weaves contributes to a shimmering, three-dimensional effect that varies depending on the light.
Colors: The fabric has a sage green or olive green background, with flowers in shades of pink/magenta and blue/light blue.
