Italian commemorative bronze medal minted in 1983 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the North Atlantic Crossing (1933–1983), a historic transatlantic air crossing conducted by the Italian Air Force's seaplanes under the command of Italo Balbo.
Law
In the center, a Savoia-Marchetti SM.55X flying boat rises in relief, with the markings I-BALB / I-BALB on the wings, surrounded by the legend:
Nord Atlantica Cruise 50th Anniversary · 1983
Reverse:
Box with a detailed listing of all legs of the transatlantic flight (Orbetello → Amsterdam → Londonderry → Reykjavík → Cartwright → Shediac → Montreal → Chicago → New York → Shediac → Shoal H. → Azores → Lisbon → Rome), with the corresponding distances in kilometers.
On the sides the period is indicated: July 1 – August 12, and below, 1933.
