Description from the seller
WMF Champagne Bucket - "Rose" Collection
- Origin: Geislingen an der Steige, Germany.
- Period: Late 19th/early 20th century (circa 1900). It belongs to the golden age of WMF's metalwork production.
- Style: Art Nouveau (Jugendstil). The piece exhibits the characteristic elegance of the German Art Nouveau style, balancing a solid structure with organic and fluid decoration.
- Ornamentation: A central embossed band features an exquisite frieze of roses in full bloom intertwined with foliage. The handles are sinuous and stylized, crowned with floral finials that complement the central motif.
- Hallmark: The base bears punch marks that include the ostrich mark within a rhombus, set within a rectangle, along with the initials WMF. *Additional Markings: The initials "I/O" are visible, indicating the standard thickness of the silver plating, and the letter "G," referring to the city of Geislingen.
-Measurements and Capacity
*Height: Approximately 22.8 cm.
*Diameter: 18 cm at the mouth / 15.2 cm at the sole / approximately 19-20 cm at the widest point.
*Total Width: Approximately 29 cm (from handle to handle).
-Condition
General Condition: In good antique condition, maintaining a bright luster and excellent definition in the reliefs. However, it should be noted that there is natural wear and loss of silver plating on the lower edge of the base and on the sole, due to use, impacts, and the passage of time. The sole also has dents and impact marks (visible in the detailed photos), which do not affect the stability or the aesthetic beauty of the piece on display.
-The wine/champagne bottles are not included in the sale. They are only for determining/approximating the dimensions of the champagne bucket.
