Description: A very handsome miniature sailing ship, namely the galleon 'De Liefde'. De Liefde was a Dutch galleon that on 19 April 1600 became the first Dutch ship to reach Japan. The ship was part of a fleet of the Magelhaensche Compagnie that aimed to reach the East Indies via the Strait Magellaan. This miniature model on a pedestal is richly detailed. The pedestal contains a silver plaque bearing the inscription 'JCC The Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Netherlands De Liefde.'
