The Ferrari F40 is a sports car produced by the Italian car manufacturer Ferrari, successor to the Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione, produced between 1987 and 1992 (for the last models, 'F40 GTE'), and its successor was the F50.

The body design was created by the Pininfarina studio by Aldo Brovarone, Leonardo Fioravanti, and Pietro Camardella under the guidance of Nicola Materazzi, who was entrusted with the project, developing the engine, gearbox, and other mechanical parts of the vehicle. Materazzi also previously designed the body of the 288 GTO Evoluzione, from which the F40 takes up many stylistic features.
