Description from the seller
Elegant display cabinet table 'Bijouterie' in carved wood – Chippendale style – Mid-20th century
Description:
Splendid display cabinet (Bijouterie) of refined artisanal craftsmanship, dating from the first half of the 20th century. This piece was made to display precious objects, collections of watches or jewelry, protecting them with elegance.
The piece features a rectangular glass top, framed by a finely carved wooden edge with a rope motif. The cabinet has four glazed sides, allowing a full view of its contents.
The most valuable element is the base: the four sinuous legs are connected by a dramatic X-shaped stretcher with a central turned element, which gives stability and a sense of lift to the figure. The wood has a warm original dark patina.
Technical Details
• Era: circa 1920-1940.
• Material: Fine wood (walnut/mahogany) and glass.
• Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The wood shows minor signs of wear that attest to its authenticity. Glass is intact. (Note: the label visible in the original photo has been removed; the piece is ready for use).
