A fine and authentic Ashanti (Asante) gold dust box from Ghana, traditionally used for the storage of gold dust, which served as currency in the Ashanti Kingdom before the introduction of coins.

The box is cast in bronze (yellow brass alloy) and features a removable lid decorated with multiple small bird figures in relief. In Ashanti culture, birds symbolize communication, vigilance, and spiritual authority, often referencing proverbs and social values. Figurative lids such as this are particularly appreciated by collectors.

The surface shows a beautiful, natural patina consistent with age and long-term use. The interior is empty, as commonly found. No modern repairs or alterations are visible.
