Turkish hand-knotted Anatolian village rug, wool on wool, 135 cm by 84 cm, dating from the late 19th century, generally in reasonable condition with signs of age and use.
Description from the seller
Authentic Anatolian village rug from the late 19th century, hand-knotted and rich in character. This rug is a beautiful example of traditional folk weaving from Turkey.
The central field is composed of repeating geometric triangle motifs, framed by several finely worked floral borders. The colors are warm and mellow, with natural shades of old pink, red, indigo, brown, and cream, derived from plant-based dyes. Subtle color variations (abrash) emphasize the handmade character.
The rug is crafted from hand-spun wool, knotted wool-on-wool, and displays genuine wear that matches its age and authenticity. The edges and fringes show signs of aging, which contribute to its charm and historic appearance.
With its size, this rug is particularly suitable as a decorative accent in a bohemian, vintage, or eclectic interior, or for enthusiasts and collectors of authentic Oriental carpets.
A characterful and rare piece with a clear historical soul, dating from the late 19th century.
