Description from the seller
Braun T1000 World Receiver 1962 Dieter Rams
A very neat and superb Braun world receiver. With original documentation available. The original front cover is also included, which is often not the case.
The radio only works on FM – I want to mention that. I don’t know why it only plays on FM; I’m not a techie. It runs on 220 volts and on batteries.
Battery compartment is completely clean. The scale lighting works. With an antenna, the top piece is loose; see photo!
But still complete.
There are small dents on the front, above on the left and right. See photos. Not distracting!
It was a large portable radio designed by the famous Dieter Rams, one of the most influential designers of the 20th century. The T1000 was very advanced for its time (1962).
The fixed price was 1,400.00 DM in 1962.
The radio was introduced in 1962 at the Berlin Radio Fair and is an iconic Rams/Braun design and a nice collector's item, which is part of the permanent collection displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York (MOMA), Milan, Munich, London and many other cities.
Using the photos, I show the cosmetic side of the article as accurately as possible.
Regarding the technical condition of the radio, I will list the defects I have observed. However, I would like to note that I am not a technician, and the radios on offer are often several decades old.
If you do not agree with this, I would advise you not to bid. This is to prevent misunderstandings between buyer and seller.
The item isn't being shipped to Greece because, despite the very good packaging (see feedback), little of it arrives in good condition, and because returning the radios entails very high shipping costs of €80.00 or more—sorry about that!
