Antique tin beer jug from Germany, dating to 1850–1900, made of solid tin with a bulbous body, elegant spout and hinged lid with a thumb rest, about 27 cm tall and 13 cm in diameter, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Beautiful antique pewter jug from the period roughly 1850–1870, with an elegant and timeless form. This jug is made of solid tin and exudes a sober, functional character that is typical of the 19th century.
The bulbous body, the elegantly shaped pouring spout, and the hinged lid with a thumb rest point to traditional craftsmanship. On the underside there is a mark with a tree, a common master or workshop mark, indicating a probable origin from Germany or the adjacent German-speaking area.
The jug has a beautiful, authentic patina and shows honest signs of use that suit its age and material. These marks contribute to the charm and emphasize the authenticity of the piece. The lid and the hinge function correctly.
With a height of about 27 cm and a diameter of about 13 cm at the widest point, this is an attractive and easy-to-handle size, ideal as a decorative object or for enthusiasts and collectors of antique tin.
A distinctive 19th-century tin pouring jug or beer jug, presumably German, that fits perfectly in a classic, rustic, or historic interior.
