Fossilised dinosaur bone specimen from Madagascar dating to the Cretaceous period, scientific name Dinsaurier Knochen, in good condition, weighing 402 g and measuring a 6.20 cm cube.
Description from the seller
402 grams 6.20 × 6.20 × 6.20 cm - Cretaceous fossil - dinosaur bone from Madagascar - petrified dinosaur bone Jurassic period fossil Dinosaur sphere - sphere carved from real dinosaur bone
This extraordinary object consists of fossil bone material from Madagascar and dates from the Late Cretaceous (approximately 70–66 million years ago) – the last era of the dinosaurs, shortly before the mass extinction.
Discovery region & geological context
Fossil dinosaur bones from Madagascar from the Mahajanga Basin in the northwest of the island, in the Maevarano Formation. The landscape of that time consisted of a warm, tropical-to-subtropical river and floodplain landscape with seasonal floods, savannas, river arms, and coastal plains.
The structure, density, and typical fossilization strongly point, with the highest probability, to a specimen belonging to the Titanosauria:
the best-known dinosaur from Madagascar, Rapetosaurus krausei, named after Rapeto – a giant from Malagasy mythology.
Rapetosaurus krausei is the best-known sauropod from the Maevarano Formation in Madagascar.
he belonged to the "Last of the Titans"—since they lived until the end of the Cretaceous.
Bone microstructure in excellent preservation — see close-up photos.
In this world, dinosaurs, primitive mammals, giant reptiles, crocodiles, and early birds lived side by side.
Fossil dinosaur bones from Madagascar — a coveted research object for paleontologists
suitable for scientific studies, collectible as a museum exhibit object.
This specimen blends geologic depth, archaic presence, and authentic provenance—a tangible relic from the last world of the dinosaurs, and it offers scientists and paleontologists a realistic glimpse into the fauna of the Cretaceous.
A very decorative object of natural fossil art.
Shipping is fully insured and securely packaged on a small stand.
