French black marble mantel clock dating to 1910–1920 with a mechanical movement, multi-day power reserve, half-hour bell strike, and supplied as a restoration/parts object; not in working order, dimensions 29 × 44 × 14 cm, weight about 11.1 kg, winding key included, origin France.
Description from the seller
A very handsome and intact black marble French pendulum clock from the Jugendstil/Art Deco period. The clock was made in the early 20th century (1900/1920). The movement of the beautifully shaped clock case with round, curved, and clean lines runs, but stops too quickly again. Therefore it is offered as a restoration project. Perhaps shortening the pendulum a bit will be sufficient to make the beautiful and highly sought-after movement run properly. The bell striking mechanism works well.
On the front, due to age it shows some wear, with speckled black, round marble, adorned with gold-colored figures and round dots from the Jugendstil period. The clock rests on four round, also marble, feet. The black marble is interspersed by a white-mottled band at the front and sides, also black marble. The fine cream-colored porcelain dial with beautifully formed numerals, copper-colored core and gold-colored hands, gives the clock a “rich appearance.” This dial is located behind a faceted glass in a brass ring. This can be opened to access the hands and winding holes. Winding of the running and striking mechanism must be done with a key. This is naturally supplied and – just like the clock’s pendulum – packed separately. The movement is accessible via a brass back door. Dimensions of the whole: HxWxD = 29x4414 cm. The net weight is a little over 11 kg (approx. 11,100 grams)
The substantial French pendulum clock can be picked up from Surhuisterveen (Frl.). It can also be shipped well-packaged and by registered mail with PostNL.
