Mid‑century wall lamp in teak with a functional scissor mechanism, original two‑layer fabric shade, E27 bakelite fitting, Italian inline switch, and a wall‑tray cable guide; dimensions 96 cm depth, 30 cm width and 42 cm height, dating from ca. 1955–1965 and in good, used condition.
Description from the seller
Mid-century scissor lamp – teak – ca. 1955–1965.
A special and fully original extendable wall lamp from the mid-century era, made of solid teak with a classic scissor mechanism.
The lamp combines functionality with warm materials and is a beautiful example of European design from the 1950s–60s.
The lamp is equipped with an original, two-layer fabric lampshade: a textile outer layer and a satin inner side, pleated, which provides a soft and uniform light. This type of shade was used exclusively with higher-quality fixtures and has rarely been preserved.
The E27 socket is made of bakelite / hard plastic, in keeping with the period. The lamp also retains its original Italian intermediate switch (“Interruttore”), which points to Italian electrical components or assembly. The wiring runs neatly through an original cable guide in the wall plate, a detail that indicates a thoughtfully engineered factory design.
The scissor mechanism is stable and easy to operate, so the lamp can be easily extended and retracted. Ideal as a reading lamp or ambient lighting.
