Description from the seller
The 2017 Ca’Viola Barolo Caviòt DOCG is a classic Piedmontese Barolo made from 100 % Nebbiolo grapes sourced from a blend of vineyards in and around Novello, lending it balanced ripeness and depth. Rated 93 points by Falstaff, it reflects both traditional Barolo structure and early-drinking appeal.
In the glass the wine shows a bright ruby-red colour with garnet hints typical of its age. The aromatics are fragrant and nuanced, with dried rose petals, candied raspberries, mint, dark chocolate and leather notes emerging on the nose. On the palate it’s juicy, medium-bodied and finely balanced, with intricate flavours, firm yet supple tannins and excellent clarity. The finish is smooth and persistent, supported by harmonious acidity.
Ca’Viola’s Barolo Caviòt undergoes about 24 months ageing in large oak barrels, preserving Nebbiolo’s characteristic floral and red-fruit intensity. It pairs wonderfully with rich red meats, game, hearty pasta and aged cheeses, making it a versatile Barolo for current enjoyment or further cellaring.
