Description from the seller

James Dixon & SONS
Sheffield
A famous company in Sheffield founded in 1806 by James Dixon on Sliver Street. It was continued in 1823 under the name James Dixon & Son, as a son joined the business. A showroom was opened in 1873 in London. The company used the symbol "Trumpet with a banner", as seen on this scale.
The scale was probably made between 1823 and 1920.

It is in a beautiful condition; nowhere has the Silver Plate been polished or scratched, and the lid closes perfectly. See the photos. On two of the corner edges there is a small dent, see the photos, which is easy to restore.
The dish is long: 21.5 cm, wide 29 cm, and high: 8 cm.
Weight: 1730 grams.
The dish has a lid that can be inverted to double as a bowl; it also includes a meat platter. With this set you can serve vegetables, meat, and potatoes. 3 pieces in one!

The company participated in the Great Exhibition of 1851 and won several prizes in various categories for silver and Britannia metal.

The scale will be packed very carefully and shipped with tracking.
