Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Description from the seller
This lot features an authentic Japanese natural finishing whetstone (Awasedo) from the renowned Nakayama 正本山 mine, sourced from the Umegahata (梅ヶ畑) area of Kyoto. The stone belongs to the 巣板 (Suita) layer, known for its distinctive honeycomb structure and excellent polishing characteristics.
With a hardness rating of 4/5, this stone offers a balanced feel—hard enough for precise finishing while still producing usable slurry without requiring a Nagura whetstone. The estimated grit range of #10000–#12000 makes it suitable for final sharpening and polishing of high-quality kitchen knives and edged tools.
The stone weighs approximately 150 g and comes in a slim, bench-style format. Natural patterns, color variations, and minor irregularities are present and should be considered part of the stone’s character. Condition and characteristics are based on the seller’s perception; please refer carefully to the images for final judgment.
