Enrique Badía Romero was born in Barcelona on April 24, 1930.
He began his career at the age of 15, when he was taken on as an apprentice by the artist Emilio Freixas. After contributing to the publication Susy in 1949, he began to create illustrations for several series under the signature "Badia." He launched the magazine Alex in 1953, and two years later founded the publishing house Ruiz Romero, for which he produced the series Cromos, Hombres de Lucha, and Historia de la Guerra.

Romero began his collaboration with Peter O'Donnell's Modesty Blaise strip in 1970, when he was called to complete the plot The War-Lords of Phoenix due to the sudden death of the artist Jim Holdaway. Initially an imitator of Holdaway, Romero soon developed his own interpretation of the Modesty Blaise character, portraying the protagonist in a more exotic and voluptuous style than that of the previous illustrator. Romero drew the strip until 1978, however he returned to work on it from 1986 to 2001. He collaborated with Donne Avenell to create the science fiction series Axa for the British tabloid The Sun.
He died in Barcelona on February 15, 2024 at the age of 93.
