The sculpture is created using the lost-wax bronze casting technique.
The sculpture, crafted according to the ancient tradition of Italian craftsmanship, rests on a base of green marble.

The subject

It depicts the head of Laocoon.

It is reported in Virgil's Aeneid that, when the Athenians entered the city with the famous Trojan horse, Laocoön threw a spear at it, causing its belly to sound and exclaiming: 'Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes'.
