Mechanical musical carillon in a wooden case dating from 1850–1900, with a brass cylinder and steel comb, manual winding, an internal label for 8 airs, serial number 9378, of European origin (likely Franco-Swiss) and handmade for domestic use.
Description from the seller
Musical wooden music box with pin cylinder – Europe, late 19th century
Main description
Tabletop mechanical music box, housed in a wooden case with a hinged top opening.
Inside there is a cylinder mechanism with brass pins and a metal comb, typical of European production from the late 19th century.
The music box is equipped with the original paper placard attached inside the lid, bearing a handwritten list of the musical pieces and the indication of the number “8 airs,” a feature consistent with music boxes from the Franco-Swiss region intended for a popular/opera repertoire.
The engraved number 9378 is visible on the mechanism and is presumably a production or assembly number.
The chest, rectangular in shape, rests on feet; the construction and materials indicate a good-quality handcrafted piece intended for domestic use.
Technical specifications
Type: mechanical cylinder music box
Materials: wooden case, brass cylinder, steel comb
Actuation: manual (spring mechanism)
Tracks: indicated on the internal label (“8 airs”)
Number engraved on the mechanism: 9378
Production: Europe (likely the Franco-Swiss area)

The conditions are accurately documented by the photographs.
Note on brand / signature
There is no manufacturer's brand.
The engraved number 9378 should be regarded as a serial or assembly number, in keeping with European music boxes of artisanal production from the late nineteenth century.
Shipping
Careful and professional packaging, with shock protection appropriate for the fragility of the mechanism and the wooden crate.
Tracked shipment.
