Description from the seller
Double desk inkstand in gilded bronze, France, late 19th century (around 1880–1910).
A richly decorated model in the Louis XV / Rocaille style, featuring shells, foliage and openwork scrolls, typical of high-quality French productions from the late 19th century.
The inkwell features two circular reservoirs fitted with their original lead inner cups, an important element attesting to the authenticity and completeness of the object.
The hinged lids are functional. The casting is neat and well detailed, with a nice depth of relief.
A high-quality decorative and functional object representative of late 19th-century French desk inkstands, sought after for its elegant presentation and completeness (the inclusion of the ink cups).
Seal and accessories not period-appropriate.
Overall good condition considering age, with normal wear to the gilding, a uniform patina and traces of oxidation compatible with old use. No major damage, see the photos which are part of the description.
