Description from the seller
Germany. Karlsruhe. 3 Mark. 1914. Frederick II of Baden (1907-1918)
Value: 3 Mark
Reign: Frederick II of Baden (1907–1918).
Year: 1914.
- Inscriptions: Obverse: FRIEDRICH II GROSSHERZOG VON BADEN with a bust to the left. Reverse: DEUTSCHES REICH · 1914 · DREI MARK with crowned Imperial German eagle.
- Grade: MS61 (NGC).
Silver 3-Mark coin corresponding to the Grand Duchy of Baden within the German Empire, with a left-facing portrait of Grand Duke Frederick II, executed in a realistic and sober style, with good hair modeling and facial features well defined. The reverse features the German imperial eagle with spread wings, crown and central shield, displaying a strong and balanced heraldic composition. The piece preserves complete and well-defined reliefs, relatively clean fields, and an attractive original shine with a light silver patina, showing minimal surface marks typical of its grade, which gives it a solid presence and a very representative example of the German state coinages issued before World War I.
