Description from the seller
This piece from Iraí, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, is a fascinating example of how Brazilian geology can produce structures that seem to defy gravity, with an imposing height of 10 cm, showcasing the excellence of the carbonates of southern Brazil. The piece is characterized by a vertical growth of a large calcite crystal, rising entirely in the air in a sleek, stylized manner.
The crystals exhibit a deep honey-amber color, a highly coveted shade that is due to the presence of iron oxide inclusions during their formation. It highlights the translucency of the main calcite, which allows light to pass through the crystal faces, revealing internal growth zonations. The luster is vitreous and the edges are exceptionally well defined, culminating in a perfect termination that shows no mechanical damage typical of pieces of this size.
In the matrix, the most notable feature is the spatial arrangement of the crystals: an open architecture that allows the individual morphology of each scalene polyhedron to be appreciated. It is a piece with great visual presence, ideal to be the centerpiece in an illuminated display case, where its warm color and its imposing verticality come to life.
