Kodak Startech macro camera, built on the Brownie Starflash body and released around 1959, with 127 film, two fixed apertures (f/27 green and f/64 red) for very close focus, built-in M2 flash protected by a transparent screen, in good condition and tested working, included with an external power supply labeled 220 VAC.
Description from the seller
For sale: Kodak Startech, a special camera produced by Kodak in 1959, designed specifically for close-up (macro) photography in medical, dental, and industrial settings. Based on the body of the popular 'Brownie Starflash', this version is distinguished by its beige/cream coloration (instead of black or colored) and by its specialized lens and aperture system.
The camera uses 127-format film (4x4 cm) and has only two extremely closed-aperture settings to maximize depth of field: f/27 (green color code) and f/64 (red color code). These correspond to two close-focusing ranges: 10-16 inches (25-40 cm) for green and 4-8 inches (10-20 cm) for red. The integrated M2 bulb flash is essential for shooting with such narrow diaphragms; it is protected by a transparent shield for safety.
The specimen for sale is accompanied by an interesting handmade external power supply or industrial (“black box” in Bakelite or plastic) labeled “220 VAC,” which probably served to power the flash via fixed mains for professional use in a studio/clinic, bypassing the batteries. A piece of history of scientific photography. Including Kodak Startech camera and power supply as shown in the images.
