Kazak-Design – hand-knotted Oriental rug

This handwoven Oriental rug is crafted in traditional Kazak design, known for its bold, graphic language of form and clearly structured compositions. The elongated field features a sequence of large-format geometric medallions, arranged in strict axial alignment, giving the rug a distinctive, rhythmic effect.

The medaillons are executed in contrasting green, blue, red and beige tones and are accompanied by stylized symbol motifs, as is typical for the Caucasian-Anatolian rug tradition. The light ground field provides good legibility of the patterns and enhances the graphic character of the design. Small, regularly placed secondary motifs loosen the composition and provide visual tension.

The surrounding border is richly ornamented and echoes the geometric language of the central field. It frames the rug clearly and creates a harmonious transition between the field and the outer edge. Overall, the rug appears expressive, authentic, and at the same time balanced.
