Description from the seller
Art Nouveau Ceramic Vase with Handles – c. 1900–1915
In excellent/ near mint condition – No reserve.
An impressive Art Nouveau ceramic vase, dating from the turn of the 20th century, distinguished by its sculptural silhouette, integrated handles and rich, flowing glaze. This is a high-quality, heavy decorative object, clearly produced as an artistic statement rather than utilitarian ware.
The vase is finished in a deep blue to turquoise glaze with subtle green undertones, showing beautiful natural kiln effects and colour transitions. The surface is enriched with stylised organic relief decoration, combined with small geometric accents in warm ochre tones — a refined visual balance that is strongly associated with continental European Art Nouveau ceramics.
Its harmonious proportions, tactile surface and expressive glaze give the piece a strong presence. Objects of this type were typically produced by specialized workshops in Flanders, Belgium, where experimentation with glazes and sculptural form was central around 1900.
Dimensions
26 × 17 × 17 cm (height × width × depth)
Weight
Approx. 1,6 kg (heavy quality)
Condition
In excellent vintage condition.
No cracks, no restorations.
The glaze is vibrant and very well preserved.
Historical & stylistic context
Around 1900, Art Nouveau vases like this were designed as interior focal points, often displayed on sideboards or pedestals, reflecting the growing status of ceramics as collectible art objects rather than purely functional items.
A true eye-catcher with strong decorative impact and excellent weight and quality — highly suitable for collectors of Art Nouveau, Jugendstil and early European studio ceramics.
Professionally packed and shipped with great care.
