AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Art Nouveau Ceramic Vase with Handles – c. 1900–1915
In excellent/ near mint condition – No reserve.

An impressive large-format Art Nouveau ceramic vase, dating from the early 20th century, notable for its sculptural presence, elegant twin handles and richly modelled relief decoration. With its substantial height and weight, this is a statement piece, clearly conceived as a decorative art object rather than functional pottery.

The vase is finished in a deep blue, turquoise and green flowing glaze, enriched with warm ochre and amber accents. The surface shows beautiful kiln effects and subtle colour transitions, enhancing the depth of the relief decoration. The stylised organic motifs, combined with small geometric elements, place this piece firmly within the continental European Art Nouveau / Jugendstil tradition.

Its harmonious proportions, tactile surface and expressive glaze give the piece a strong presence. Objects of this type were typically produced by specialized workshops in Flanders, Belgium, where experimentation with glazes and sculptural form was central around 1900.

Dimensions
37 × 17 × 17 cm (height × width × depth)
Weight
Approx. 2,5 kg (heavy quality)
Condition
In excellent vintage condition.
No cracks, no restorations.
The glaze is vibrant and very well preserved.
Historical & stylistic context

Around 1900, Art Nouveau vases like this were designed as interior focal points, often displayed on sideboards or pedestals, reflecting the growing status of ceramics as collectible art objects rather than purely functional items.
