Description from the seller
Vintage Mid-Century Dutch Earthenware Planter – 1950s
A striking mid-century modern earthenware planter from the Netherlands, dating to the 1950s. This elongated rectangular planter is a textbook example of post-war Dutch ceramic design, combining strong architectural form with refined surface treatment.
The exterior is finished with a rhythmic vertical ribbed relief, accentuated by a contrasting black and off-white structured glaze that creates depth and visual movement. The interior features a rich, glossy olive-green glaze, beautifully pooling at the base and corners—an effect highly characteristic of high-quality studio and workshop ceramics of the period.
Its long, low profile makes it particularly suitable for succulents, cacti, bonsai arrangements, or minimalist interior styling, while the sculptural design allows it to stand alone as a decorative object.
