Rollei B35, model B35, tested and functioning, produced circa 1970–1980.
Description from the seller
Rollei B35 for sale, a simplified and lightweight version of the famous Rollei 35, produced between 1969 and 1978. Born initially in Germany and later produced in Singapore, this compact camera is appreciated for not requiring batteries, thanks to its selenium light meter (visible in the honeycomb window on the front) and the fully mechanical shutter.
Mount a Carl Zeiss Triotar 40mm f/3.5 lens, a 3-element optical design that offers excellent “vintage” rendering, sharp at the center and softer toward the edges, with excellent contrast. The lens is retractable as in the original Rollei 35, making the camera pocket-sized. Unlike the higher-end model, the B35 has shutter speeds limited from 1/30s to 1/500s plus B exposure, and the shutter speed and aperture ring are located on the lens barrel rather than on the front of the body.
An important detail is that the selenium exposure meter, over time, can run down and stop working (the cells age). However, being a fully mechanical camera, it can be used perfectly even without a light meter, using the Sunny 16 rule or an external meter (or app). The B35 is the ideal choice for those seeking the Rollei experience in a lighter body and without the nightmare of mercury batteries. Included: camera with the original wrist strap.
