Description from the seller
Elegant pair of gilded Louis XV armchairs – ladies’ and gentlemen’s chair – 20th century
⸻
Description
Very charming pair of richly gilded armchairs in Louis XV / Rococo style, executed as a classic ladies’ and gentlemen’s chair. The distinction is visible in the ornamentation of the cresting and the contouring of the back:
• Armchair (right): a somewhat bolder and more expressive carved ornament, with a more pronounced crest and a sturdier appearance.
• Ladies' chair (left): a more refined and elegant ornament, with softer lines and a visually lighter appearance.
Both chairs are made of wood and richly gilded, with gracefully curved cabriole legs and openwork Rococo carving. The chairs are upholstered in a decorative fabric with floral and vase motifs in soft pastel colors, in keeping with the style.
The whole forms a harmonious salon pair, ideal for a classic interior, bedroom, or as decorative accent chairs.
⸻
Period
Mid-20th century (c. 1950–1970)
Executed in the style of the 18th-century Louis XV period.
⸻
Condition
• Wooden frames: in good condition, sturdy, with normal signs of wear appropriate for their age
• Gilding: light wear on contact points, contributes to authenticity
• Upholstery: used, with slight discoloration and signs of aging.
⸻
Details
• Offered as a set of 2
• Clearly distinguish between ladies' chair (left) & gentlemen's chair (right)
• Very decorative and presentable
Perfect for a salon, boudoir, or classic interior.
