Grand figurative inkwell "Hunting Dog" - Louis Babelin (129) - 29 cm
Description:
Imposing antique inkwell in Animalier style, made by the French sculptor and ceramist Louis Babelin (late 19th - early 20th century). The work depicts a hunting dog in a dynamic pose on a naturalistic base that integrates two functional compartments: one circular for ink and one elongated for pens.
Author: Louis Babelin.
Marks: Signature "L. BABELIN" and number "129" impressed raw on the base.
Material: Glazed, high-fired stoneware with a glossy finish.

Weight: Estimated between 1.5 kg and 2 kg (to be confirmed at weighing).
Conditions:
The object is structurally solid and presents a beautiful antique patina. Noted are some signs of age consistent with the period: a chip on the rim of the left container and a small missing piece at the tip of the right ear of the dog. The animal figure is otherwise well preserved and the glaze retains its original brilliance.
