Description from the seller
Hans Memling. The Complete Works by Dirk De Vos, published by Mercatorfonds Paribas (1994), is an authoritative and richly illustrated monograph on the Flemish master Hans Memling (ca. 1430–1494). The book appeared on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of his death and has since been regarded as a standard work.
The publication consists of three parts: a deeply researched historical essay, a complete catalog of Memling's known works, and thematic chapters on style, technique, and iconography. De Vos bases himself on extensive source research and visual materials (more than 450 illustrations, of which 350 are in color).
The deluxe edition (with slipcase) and the thoroughness of the content make this book an indispensable resource for connoisseurs and enthusiasts of the Flemish Primitives.
The book is in very good condition and comes with a slipcase; the slipcase has stains and signs of wear.
