Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
DBX 117 dynamic expander, manufactured in 1973, in excellent physical and functional condition, tested and working, includes adapter and original user manual.
Description from the seller
I am offering, from my personal collection, a wonderful and rare DBX 117 modulator from the famous American company, in excellent cosmetic and functional condition.
Clean, checked, and extensively tested by an expert technician in the field.
For true connoisseurs of the 'sacred' objects of the hi-fi world.
Very light marks on the wooden side panels, not visible once it is installed.
Supplied with its original instruction manual to complete this splendid object.
If it is purchased in Italy, I will gift a plug adapter for the Italian outlet.
The DBX 117 is able to re-expand the limited dynamics of tapes, records, and FM broadcasts, returning the music to its original dynamic range.
Model 117 connects easily to the receiver or to the integrated amplifier/preamplifier.
Specifications
Compression and expansion: continues from a compression slope of 1.4 (output variation 14 dB / input variation 20 dB) to an expansion slope of 2.0 (output variation 20 dB / input variation 10 dB)
Dynamic range: input or output 120 dB
Input noise: -110 dBm typical, -100 dBm maximum
Input level: maximum input signal greater than 30 V RMS
Input impedance: 50 kΩ
Output level: maximum open-circuit output 10 Volts RMS; +17 dBm into 600 ohms
Output impedance: 500 ohms
Distortion: 0.5% maximum at 20 Hz, 0.2% typical above 50 Hz for a full cycle of compression and expansion; 1.2% at 20 Hz for 2:1 expansion; 0.05% typical at 1 kHz and above for any control setting (input or output 3 Volt RMS or less).
Frequency response: +0, -1 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz
Attack time: 50 dB/ms maximum initial attack rate at 1.4 of expansion. 12 ms at 65% of the final value at any compression or expansion setting. Adjusted to fit within the human ear's integration time within the limits of reasonable low-frequency distortion.
Release time (decay): constant rate of 140 dB/sec (normal) or 50 dB/sec (slow) at 1.4x expansion
Level matching control: the unity-gain point can be varied from 100 mV to 1 V.
