Van den Broek / Pierre Jost - Vase - Ceramic

Rare Art Deco ceramic baluster vase, decorated with four hand-painted stylised flowers in red and yellow, contrasted with black leaves outlined by fine brown line-work. The expressive decorative motifs are attributed to the painter Van den Broeck and were executed in the ateliers of Pierre Jost.
Only a small number of ceramic vases bearing the CÉRAM mark and signed P. Jost are known. Given their rarity, it is generally accepted that Jost did not manufacture the ceramic bodies himself but acquired them undecorated and had them painted in his workshops.
