Vintage French terrestrial globe from 1935–1939 by GIRARD et BARRERE, mounted on a rigid sphere with a metal axis, carton map in French, dimensions 28 × 20 × 20 cm, origin France, good used condition with signs of age.
Description from the seller
Authentic and rare French antique terrestrial globe from the period, produced in the 1930s (1935–1939), with political cartography printed in French and applied to a rigid sphere.
Dating is supported by numerous consistent historical references, including:
use of the designation "SIAM" (prior to 1939),
the presence of French Indochina,
indication of the USSR with the era’s toponyms (e.g., Stalinsk).
These elements place the globe with good precision in the second half of the 1930s, before the major geopolitical changes of World War II.
An item originally intended for school and educational use, today highly valued as a collectible piece and as a vintage decorative element for interiors, studies, or libraries.
Materials: printed paper, rigid spherical support, metal shaft.
Good overall condition, fully consistent with the object's age.
There are normal signs of aging (patina, light surface wear), but:
clear, readable cartography.
Vibrant colors
Overall, a healthy and authentic specimen, ideal for collectors and lovers of historical cartography.
(Please refer to the photographs, which are an integral part of the description.)
Original period piece, not a modern reproduction.
Tracked shipment with professional and protective packaging, suitable for fragile and collectible items.
