Description from the seller
Beautiful transistor radio from B&O
Beomaster 900K
Works fine, the lighting works too.
The Beomaster 900 series was the latest in a lineup of long, low tabletop radios, but by using transistors instead of vacuum tubes, the designers freed themselves from a number of important limitations.
And secondly, their low heat dissipation meant that prominent ventilation grills and large gaps around heat-generating components were unnecessary, while first, the transistors allowed the enclosure to be made smaller overall.
These two factors meant that the radio was shaped less by technical necessity and more by aesthetic demands.
The designers at B&O chose to use this new freedom to create a long and sleek radio, a form that has since remained a trademark of B&O.
Another advantage of the transistor circuits was that the amplifiers could be unusually powerful.
2x6W may not seem like much now, but in the mid-1960s this kind of power was reserved for specialized hi-fi equipment, often housed in large cabinets.
Thanks to the efficient speakers, the Beomaster 900K is more than loud enough for any home setting.
The Beomaster 900 has built-in antennas for both AM and FM.
The tuner has a duplex tuning mechanism, which means there are two separate tuning mechanisms, one for AM and one for FM. The advantage of this is that when switching from AM to FM you can tune to the desired station without leaving the AM band.
The device is very well equipped. It features a four-band radio that not only received shortwave but also the full FM band up to 108 MHz, something that even twenty years later was not yet commonly available.
The radio also has a tuning meter, automatic frequency control (AFC) for FM, and the ability to connect an external AM antenna instead of the internal ferrite rod.
The amplifier section includes bass and treble controls, loudness compensation for the volume control, and connections for a turntable and cassette deck.
Look closely at the photos for the condition.
