Display cabinet - Walnut, Thuya, Ormolu - Regency-Victorian, 19th century

Stunning English antique display cabinet / bookcase, a 'pier cabinet' (low pier cabinet), a typical mid-to-late 19th-century piece from the late Regency or Victorian period (about 1870–1880). Constructed in walnut and burl walnut, with a shelf in precious Thuya burl veneer, refined inlays and maple banding. Features ormolu (gilded bronze) decorations on the uprights and inlays with floral or geometric motifs on the upper frieze. It has a single glass door enclosing interior shelves lined with the original red velvet from the era. A rare piece of great value, completely original and in good condition.
