linen-bound book with a silver-embossed title on the spine and cover, 23 pages of text and 48 full-page photographic plates.
format: 27 x 21 cm,
Edition: Rotapfel-Verlag, Erlenbach, Switzerland in 1930.
Book: in good condition for its age, discoloration of the cover at the top and along the edge, the top of the binding, light signs of wear on the upper back edge and only the first page a little nicked. The interior and the photos printed on off-white paper are in very good condition, (see the photos that accurately reflect the book’s condition.)
Steiner's work reaches maturity between 1910 and 1930, and his first major exhibitions take place in the 1920s in Switzerland. His work Schnee Winter Sonne, published in 1930, is today regarded as the first 'modern' photographic album of Switzerland, comparable to the famous Die Welt ist schön (1928) by the German photographer Albert Renger-Patzsch.
Unlike other photographers of his generation, Albert Steiner fought to have his work recognized as a work of art. He is now identified as a fully fledged artist. Many museums have
