These speakers are the Marantz HD 400/E model (the European variant of the HD400), a pair of bookshelf/standmount speakers, although often used with stands, 3-way with a bass-reflex design, manufactured in Belgium by Marantz roughly between 1982 and 1984.
Key technical features
• Type: 3-way, 3 drivers, bass reflex
• Drivers/Chasis:
• Woofer/bass → ~200 mm (8”) cone with a yellow surround (visible in the photos).
• Midrange → ~120 mm cone.
• Tweeter/highs → ~50 mm (soft dome or cone, with the characteristic yellow ring).
• Permissible power: 80 W RMS
• Impedance: 8 ohms.
• Sensitivity: 90 dB (high efficiency, easy to amplify).
• Frequency response: 50 – 20,000 Hz.
• Dimensions: approx. 265 mm (width) × 512 mm (height) × 200 mm (depth).
• Weight: Approximately 8-10 kg per speaker.
• Finish: wood veneer (walnut or similar), black front baffle.
