Porcelain vase designed by Hans Theo Baumann for Rosenthal in Germany, from the 1970s, Studio Linie, dimensions 15 cm wide, 12 cm high and 10 cm deep, one item, in excellent condition with light wear due to age, signed at the base.
Description from the seller
Splendid porcelain vase produced by Rosenthal, designed by H. T. Baumann.
This very elegant modernist Op Art-style design is produced by Rosenthal in Germany around the 1970s. The bold, sharp design was created by HT Baumann, who devised for the vase a black background on which the gold decoration stands out.
This pattern is one of the many designs of German porcelain from that period, characterized by very bold and striking "op-art" motifs.
Baumann joined Philipp Rosenthal in 1954 and worked at the Rosenthal factory and other German porcelain factories until the seventies as a freelance designer. In 1969 he was appointed to the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India, and in 1985 he became a professor at the University of the Arts, Berlin.
His projects, award-winning, have had a strong influence on the German design scene. His work is characterized by clean, timeless forms, with high functionality.
A rare object that tells, in a vase, all the vicissitudes of postmodern design. Signed at the base.
