AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Jaeger travel / desk alarm clock – Rare dusty rose dial – Art Deco period – pre-WWII (approx. 1934–1936)

Jaeger travel / desk alarm clock from the Art Deco period, dating to the pre-World War II era.

A particularly special example featuring a highly rare dial variant, making it outstanding from a collector’s perspective.
The dial is finished in a dusty rose tone, a powdery pink shade with subtle brownish undertones.

The surface of the dial has a slightly glossy, pearlescent effect, which, from certain viewing angles, creates a delicate longitudinal light play. This is not a separately applied pattern, but an optical effect resulting from the quality and structure of the original dial finish.
Naturally, the dial is original and factory-produced.
The dial shows a light, unobtrusive, mature and period-correct patina, which does not detract from the overall appearance and instead enhances its authentic character. It features painted Arabic numerals, period-correct blued hands with luminescent (fluorescent) inserts, and an alarm hand perfectly matching the color of the dial.
The circled “2” marking on the dial is neither a date nor a model reference, but a structural / quality designation. During this period, Jaeger used several structural classes and movement versions; the “2” marking identifies a specific movement version corresponding to a manual-wind, alarm-equipped movement with approximately 8 days of power reserve. In the 1930s, Jaeger employed multiple movement classes and versions within identical case–dial configurations.

The case is made of chrome-plated or nickel-plated metal, with a brass front bezel, while the case back and the movement retaining plate are also made of brass. The folding support stand is chrome- or nickel-plated metal. The exterior metal surfaces show a light, period-correct patina, with no heavy oxidation or material damage; the case is not worn through or structurally compromised. The overall appearance is well preserved and harmonious.
The metal components of the case are notably solid, giving the entire housing a stable, robust, and cohesive feel. The hinges are tight and precise; nothing is loose or wobbly.

The manual-wind mechanical movement operates smoothly and accurately, starting immediately when wound. The alarm function sounds loudly and clearly, and the alarm can be stopped instantly using the dedicated stop button located on the top of the clock. All winding and setting controls on the back operate firmly, smoothly, and precisely, allowing accurate time and alarm adjustment. The retaining screws are secure and hold perfectly.

The crystal is firm and stable, does not move, and is in very nice, nearly scratch-free condition.

Overall, this is a mechanically excellent and structurally sound Jaeger travel clock with a rare dial variant, making it a particularly attractive piece for collectors of pre-WWII Art Deco timepieces.
