Antique goblet with a lid, made of solid 800 silver with a removable cobalt blue glass, richly decorated with mythological griffin reliefs, resting on four decorative feet with a finely sculpted, functional articulated lid, dating to around 1900–1910 from Central Europe, in good condition with natural patina.
Description from the seller
Stunning antique beer stein with lid, featuring a solid sterling silver mount stamped 800 and a removable inner glass in cobalt blue.
The silver mounting is richly decorated with mythological motifs, depicting a winged creature (griffin), with remarkable relief work and intricately pierced openwork. The piece rests on four decorative feet, with a finely sculpted handle and a domed, articulated hinged lid, perfectly functional.
This type of piece is typical of the late 19th – early 20th century, probably of Central European origin (Germany / Austria / Bohemia), a region renowned for this kind of production combining silver and colored glass.
The cobalt blue glass is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, and can be removed for cleaning. The silver frame shows a natural patina, consistent with the age of the object, with no deformations or visible repairs.
